Well I'm not quite there yet (my team is "only" at 86, but in 2 seasons will surpass 90.
The journey began at the beginning of the season 38 (Rating 25,71 // Experience 16,91), and progressed like this S39 (Rat: 33,40 //Exp: 24,82) ; S40 (Rat: 42,27 / Exp: 32,55) ; S41 (Rat: 51,81 / Exp: 42,45) ; S42 (Rat: 59,41 / Exp: 50,82) ; S43 (Rat: 66,20 / Exp: 58,82) ; S44 (Rat: 72,12 / Exp: 66,45) ; S45 (Rat: 77,98 / Exp: 74,18) ; S46 (Rat: 82,71 / Exp: 80,36) ; Season 47 Rating 86+ ; Season 48 Rating around 89 ; S49 = 90+
These are some lessons I learned:
× You must have the Training Centre at maximum level (20).
× Coaches should have skills above 95 (I never used ones under 97, but 95 is ok).
× Buy only players with 5* potential, and at least 3,5* learning.
× If you buy players with "only" 4,5* potential, make sure they are playing positions with only 5 relevant skills (GK/CB/AM/WF/CF).
× For WB/DM and WMs you NEED 5* potential and at least 4* learning, or else they will not go above 90.
× You don't have to buy all the players at once (and they don't need to be all 16 years old), but it's better not to have a big gap between their ages (my oldest is 28, my youngest 24 - so a 4 years difference).
× If they are 5* potential/ 5* learning you can buy them a little later (Ex: I bought my WB, James Walker when he was 19, rating 24,05, and although I had to train him for 6 skills (Tac/ Mar/ Pas/ Dri/ Spd/ Pos + Sta) will have a rating above 90 at 29 yrs.
× You must play them in ALL the games: League, Cups and 30 Friendlies. (experience matters a lot)
Soooo from a Rating of 25 to 90 in 11 seasons (that is exactly one year).
GOOD LUCK
