On behalf of the Union Omaha club and staff, we are excited to welcome youth player Michael Tarawally onto the first team. Atta boy!

The Tarawally household was buzzing when Michael came home with his first ever professional contract with a football club.

“He’s always worked so hard,” chimed in Michael’s mother, “we couldn’t be more proud!”

There are currently 11 students enrolled at The Nest, all the ages of 16 and 17. Unfortunately, when 元気さん came to scout the youth players, it was clear they needed much more time to improve. So he and the staff came up with a Plan B for the meantime: recruit existing youth prospects from nearby high schools and amateur clubs.

Enter Michael Tarawally. Michael was attending Millard North High School in Omaha, NE and was a part of the Millard North Mustangs boys’ football team.

“Oh it was a lot of fun,” Michael shyly quipped when we asked him about his past, “me and my friends had been on the team since we were first years, so we knew each other very well.”

Michael knows this entrance like the back of his hand, his beloved high school.

Michael shined brightly from the very first time he stepped on Millard North’s football field.

“He is incredibly sturdy,” said the head coach, “he knew when to open himself to the defense and act as our anchor when we pushed for counterattacks.”

Michael’s footballing career was seemingly going to be put on the back burner, though, as he remarked that he had yet to receive any footballing contracts from colleges as his senior year came to a close.

“I was getting very anxious!” recalled Michael, “in case football didn’t work out for me, I was planning on attending my local community college to study computer science. I’m so glad things did work out in the end though!”

Michael told us that just as his final match for Millard North finished, he was approached by two men in suits who verified themselves as scouts for Union Omaha. Elated, he managed to communicate this information to his parents and before the day was done, Michael was on his way to become an Owl.

“I’ve been following Union Omaha since the beginning! I’ve bought their merchandise, watched their games on TV, and even created their team in my Football Manager save!! It’s beyond incredible that now I’m a part of the very team I grew up watching.” Intrigued about his Football Manager save with our club, we pressed him further to elaborate, asking how much time he spent on the save. He shyly looked at the ground and eyed his computer for a bit until he admitted that he had spent much more time than he should have on it!

Regardless, we as a club are beyond excited to welcome Michael into our team and have him as an Owl. He is an incredibly bright prospect, and we’re excited to see what he can bring to the club!

Until next time,

-T
