Season 13 is coming to an end. All competitive fixtures for Jong Ajax are now complete. This was the first full season at the helm for the interim manager, Justin Holden. Holden now has a competitive match record of 44 wins, 3 draws, 6 losses. Holden's losses have been to higher rated clubs. He has taken care of business against clubs of equal or lesser quality. Still, season 13 is seen as an overall failure for Jong Ajax as they failed to win any silverware. The club finished second place in the league table while failing to advance past the semi-final of the league cup. Jong Ajax was also bounced in round six of the national trophy, but this was a tournament that they had no expectation of winning anyway. Jong Ajax was eliminated in the final round of playoffs with an 0-3 scoreline. The club therefore will not be promoted to division one and will remain a division two Dutch club next season.
The Jong Ajax board of directors has been unhappy with Holden's recent off the pitch conduct. Holden has been speaking to the press about his displeasure with managing a club in the Netherlands. Holden was quoted making the following statement:
"Other than the ability to go out to bars, night clubs, and the red light district in my free time I would say there is not much keeping me in Amsterdam. This is not the ideal place to advance in my football management career. I want to be somewhere that other managers don't have a head start in building up their facilities and cash reserves. I want to start on an equal playing field with other managers. The board is probably going to be upset that I'm voicing this publicly, but the reality is that I already told them my intentions and my title was changed to interim manager. Ideally, I'd like to go back to North America. I am a citizen of the United States. Perhaps I should be managing a club near my hometown."
