Game Update - Changes for Season 2

Published at 2021-04-02 00:00
We have made some major changes to the game effective from Season 2. Some of these have been already discussed in the forums, and all of them are intended to make the game fair for everyone.

Custom Matches
There have been many users suggesting that the current custom match system was a bit unfair on users who were not able to login often, but the benefits were too high that they were "forced" to play them regardless to keep up with those who have the time to play them in all rounds.

While we would still allow managers to play custom matches in every round, we have made some limitations so that those who play do get a slight advantage but not too drastic that others are left far behind. Moreover, these matches are intended to promote more activity and interaction between users, so we cannot completely ignore users who are willing to devote more time to the game.

The changes made to the custom match system are as follows:

1. Only 10 custom matches in a season would give experience to players. This includes both friendlies and custom tournaments.
You can choose which custom matches you want to use for gaining experience from the Custom Matches tab under the Competition > My Matches menu. By default, the first 10 matches in a season are enabled, but you can disable gaining for any match or re-enable it by using the links in the "Exp" column in the table displayed on that page.
2. Custom matches would give 50% as much experience as a regular match
3. All custom matches will be played at a neutral venue having a stadium capacity of 10,000. The ticket price will be fixed at $ 25 and the ticket revenue will be shared equally between the two teams involved.
4. Teams will not get any other revenue like merchandise sales, advertising, tv coverage etc. from custom matches.
5. Fitness loss and chances of injury for custom matches will be the same as those in regular matches.
6. Players involved in a custom match will get a small boost to their Morale attribute in every match. This would be helpful to regain lost Morale back for your players.

Inactive Users
In Season 1, we have seen that a lot of inactive users improved their Manager Rating and thereby climbed to the top of the rankings despite them not playing regularly. There were also many teams winning competitions even if their manager has not logged in for a long period. While we understand that there will be circumstances in which users might not be able to login and set up their tactics before every match, we needed to make sure that the Rating/Ranking system was fair and reflected the real ability of managers. So we have made a few changes in that area too.

1. Teams with managers who have been inactive for more than 3 days will not use the Tactics set up by that manager for the next matches (until they log back in). Instead, they will use a different tactic generated using the Bot Team tactic AI.
Think of this as your Assistant Manager stepping up and taking charge of your team during your absence. So if you inactive for more than 3 days, there is risk that your team won't be using the best tactics or the strongest line up during your matches.
2. Managers inactive for more than 3 days cannot gain Manager Rating points from their matches until they become active again. However they can still lose rating points from losing or drawing against smaller teams.
3. Teams will fire their managers if they have not logged in for the past 28 days. Users will be sent warning emails at 14 and 21 days of inactivity that they will lose their teams. Their user accounts in the game will still be retained, so if they decide to come back to the game in future they will still have their profile and other details saved but will need to restart playing with a fresh team.
Although we have decided the deadline as 28 days which is almost the duration of a season in the game, we have set it slightly higher for the first 3 seasons as the game is still new and sudden loss of human teams from the game will create unexpected imbalances. But we will gradually decrease that limit and bring it down to 28 days in future.

Team Facility Maintenance Costs
The maintenance costs have been reduced by a bit after studying the overall finances of all teams. We felt that it was a bit high previously.
You can now also see the upgrade costs and time, maintenance costs etc. on each section under the Team Facility page, which will help you plan your finances.

Please use the forums if anything is not clear or you have questions regarding these changes.
And enjoy the second season, we have many more to come!
